ZOBO System 3 - For drilling in heavy timbers.

Choice of centering inserts

A sharp centering point;
A pilot drill bit to drill a pilot hole as you go;
Centering guide pins that fit into a pre-drilled pilot hole.

You will need:

The ZOBO drill bit
A replaceable pilot drill bit OR centering point OR guide pin
Shank extension if drilling deep holes

ZOBO SYSTEM 3 DRILL BITS

Centering points, pilot drill bits and pins use normal parallel shaft ends and set screws to fasten.
Bit and shank are screwed together (removable, but always delivered together).
Centering tools and pilot drill bits are not included with the large bit, so be sure to select the one you need.
Drill bits above 100 mm / 4" are equipped as standard with blade limiter and chip groove. This effectively reduces the risk of the drill bit jamming in the material and kicking back the drilling machine. Blade limiters (right, 1) are set up by a setting gauge (right, 2) to the correct distance from the main cutting edges. Due to ground chip grooves, shorter chips are produced and easily removed from the drilled hole.

HOW TO CHOOSE: Chromium Steel Bits or Tungsten Carbide Bits?

Compared to common bits for drilling in plastic materials or to Forstner-type bits, ZOBO chromium steel bits are made of high-quality hardened chromium steel. The cutting edges are razor sharp. The bits cut very finely and enable a quality surface finish. The bits with tungsten carbide cutting tips are meant for use in drilling slab type material such as chipboards or plywood.
